ATEX approval awarded for Calibration Gas Generator Range

 Spantech Products Ltd (South Godstone, Surrey, UK) and ACD (Tucson, AZ, USA) have announced the award of ATEX approval to their CAL 2000 range of Calibration Gas Generators, extending the use of these generators into hazardous areas.

Since 1998, with their partner company ACD, Spantech have provided portable calibration gas generators. Based on electrochemical gas generation techniques these generators provide: Hydrogen Sulphide, Hydrogen, Chlorine Dioxide, Chlorine, Hydrogen Cyanide and Hydrogen Chloride and all from the same low-cost unit.  

With no cylinder rentals and at least 50 hours supply from each disposable cell the cost of gas is up to 50 times lower than with conventional cylinders. The systems feature fully controllable flow rates and concentrations.

ATEX approval has been granted for the Minibump product which is a pocket sized generator delivering short bursts of gas for instrument checks and the CAL2000 range offering a wide range of flow rate and other output options.

Additionally on 15 October, 2005 ISO 6145-11 (electrochemical generation) has been published, as an international standard. The CAL 2000 is fully ISO compliant.
