Spantech Awarded further GAIL Order
for Gas Mixtures
GAIL (India) Ltd, UP Petrochemical Complex, have reordered
from Spantech
Products Ltd, UK various hydrocarbon gas mixtures in Spantech’s unique Mini Spancans and Toxicans.
The supply which was completed in December 2005 will
comprise of about 100 Mini Spancans and Toxicans.
Mini Spancans and Toxicans are unique to Spantech Products Ltd who have
developed these two product lines for the Indian market. The gas mixtures are
supplied in containers are of 0.5 litre water capacity and do not require
permission for use by the Chief Controller of Explosives, Nagpur under the 1981
Gas Cylinder Rules.
GAIL’s complex gas mixtures are filled in large cylinders using certified NPL
gravimetric standards, then decanted into the Mini Spancans and Toxicans. This
maintains the accuracy of the mixtures in lightweight aluminium containers,
thereby eliminating the very high transportation costs due to the tare weights
of the large cylinders. All mixtures are prepared and filled in England, then,
transported by airfreight to India.
Since 1990, Spantech Products Ltd has pioneered this method to supply of
special gas mixtures for the Indian Market. Within the last year, Spantech
Products Ltd has formed a strategic alliance with Alchemie Gases & Chemicals Pvt
Ltd, Mumbai for the market in Western India, the region where the greatest
demand for such gas mixtures exists today. It continues to supply from stock in
Kolkata from where Spancan N Equipment have been meeting customers’ demands from
all over India since 1992.

Proven technology and regular supplies to
Indian customers since 1972 feature in the Rare Gas Purifier MP-2000 bench top
unit which is installed in-line between a cylinder of Helium or Argon and
end-user's point of use to dispense Ultra High Purity gas with less than
0.5ppm total impurities including nitrogen. The Sircal Rare Gas Purifier
MP-2000 delivers up to 10 litres of gas per minute, is simple to install and
removes all traces of oxygen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, hydrocarbons, hydrogen
and moisture from commercial grade 99.999% Argon or Helium in cylinders. The
minimum gas capacity to purify is 50 x 50 litre w.c. high pressure 200 bar
fill cylinders before the purifier tubes require replacement. Spares are
available ex-stock UK, even for the Rare Gas Purifiers supplied to Indian
customers since 1972.
