We offer two main product streams: SpanWeld pipe purging systems and SpanStop pipe and duct sealing units.
SpanWeld – Reusable Pipe Purging Systems
SpanWeld systems are designed to be reusable and economical, reducing installation time while cutting down on expensive barrier gas use.
Each system consists of two interconnected inflatable units that seal the inside of pipes prior to welding. Installation is straightforward:
- Connect the gas supply line.
- Insert the purge unit into the pipe.
- Confirm correct alignment via the luminous central stripe, visible through the weld gap.
- Switch on the inert gas supply for automatic inflation and oxygen purging.

Standard Inflatable Double Bag System
- Seals pipes from 2" to 48" diameter
- Available in Proban cotton, chemical-resistant, and heat-resistant versions

Rapid Purge System
- Seals pipes from 8" to 80" diameter
- Available in standard and heat-resistant forms
Both systems inflate via a single line. Once in position, the space between the seals is flooded with argon gas, eliminating oxygen from the weld zone. For added precision, Spanweld purge systems integrate with our purge monitor, giving an instant, clear readout of oxygen levels.
SpanStop – Pipe & Duct Sealing Units
The Spanstop range is designed to block the interiors of pipes and ducting safely and effectively. Units can be produced in a variety of shapes and sizes, ranging from 2" to 98" diameter.
- Cylindrical units – the most widely used
- Spherical units – ideal for tight bends or restricted access
- Cuboid units – suitable for ducting applications
