How can I calibrate a chlorine gas detector without a chlorine cylinder?
Use a chlorine gas generator. GazCal is a portable electrochemical generator that produces 0.1 to 20 ppm chlorine on demand at 0.5 or 1.0 Lpm, powered by mains or its internal rechargeable battery, so no bottled chlorine is needed. It is made and serviced in the UK by the Spantech Group. The ACD unit covers a larger range, from 50 ppb to 50 ppm, and is NIST traceable.
GazCal
The Original GazCal is a portable chlorine gas generator designed for the testing and calibration of gas detectors, particularly in safety systems and industrial environments.
Manufactured and serviced in the UK, GazCal provides low concentration chlorine gas on demand, removing the need for bottled chlorine gas while giving users a tough, practical and easy-to-use calibration solution.
UK made, UK serviced, built for practical field use
GazCal generates low concentration chlorine gas for detector testing and calibration without the handling, storage and transport requirements associated with bottled chlorine gas.
Its rugged case design makes it suitable for demanding industrial use, while the portable format allows it to be carried easily between sites, workshops and service locations. The unit can be powered by mains or its internal rechargeable battery, making it suitable for both workshop and field applications.
Video technical support is also available by Zoom, FaceTime or Skype.
